Marine Cpl. Jorge Gonzalez of El Monte, whose parents and wife now live in Rialto, died in an ambush by a group of Iraqis feigning surrender in An Nasiriyah during the first days of the war.

Marine Reservist Cpl. Douglas Jose Marencoreyes of Chino died south of Al Samawah, Iraq, when the large transport truck he was driving rolled over. 

Headquarters & Service Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division.

Army 2nd Lt. Todd J. Bryant of Jurupa Valley died near Fallujah, Iraq, when the Humvee in which he was riding flipped over from a roadside bomb blast.

2 December 2003

Army Sgt. Ryan C. Young of Corona died from injuries suffered Nov. 8 when a roadside bomb struck his vehicle while on patrol in Fallujah, Iraq. He was a graduate of Norco High School.

31 January 2004

Army Sgt. Eliu Abisai Mier assigned to the 4th Infantry Division was killed when the vehicle he was traveling in was hit by a bomb.

29 April 2004

Michael Price of Pomona, a civilian providing security, died from wounds in a bombing near Baghdad, Iraq.

18 May 2004

Army Spc. Marcos 0. Nolasco of Chino died when he was accidentally electrocuted at a base near Baji, Iraq.

23 May 2004

Marine Staff Sgt. Jorge Alberto Molina-Bautista of Rialto was killed by hostile fire in Iraq.

13 October 2004

Army Reserve Maj. Charles R. Soltes Jr. of Irvine, a member of an Upland-based civil-affairs battalion, died in a car-bomb explosion near Mosul, Iraq.

9 November 2004

Marine Lance Cpl. Abraham Simpson of Chino was killed in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

15 June 2005

Navy Corpsman Nicholas Cesar Baez of Pomona was killed during a combat mission near the Syrian border in Iraq.  He was 37 years old.

29 October 2005

National Guard Sgt. Shaken Guy of Pomona died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb.  He was 23 years old.

25 December 2005

Army Spc. Sergio Gudino of Pomona was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when the tank in which he was riding struck a roadside bomb.  He was 21 years old.

22 April 2006

Army Sgt. Kyle A. Colnot of San Dimas died when an improvised explosive device was detonated near the vehicle he and three other soldiers were riding in Baghdad, Iraq.    

5 May 2006

Army Sgt. Bryan Allen Brewster of Fontana died in a helicopter crash in the mountains of Afghanistan on a mission as part of the 10th Aviation Brigade Mountain Division.     

8 June 2006

Army Spc. Luis D. Santos of Rialto, who attended Fontana High School, died of injuries suffered when a bomb exploded near his vehicle during combat operations in Buritz, Iraq.      

11 June 2006

Army Cpl. Bernard Corpuz of Watsonville, a graduate of the University of La Verne, died of wounds suffered when his convoy came under fire in Ghanzi, Afghanistan.

3 October 2006

Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Isshak of Alta Loma, a graduate of Rancho Cucamonga High, died at Tikrit, Iraq, from wounds received when his vehicle was attacked by small-arms fire near Hawija, Iraq.

15 October 2006

Army Capt. Mark C. Paine of Moraga died in Taji, about 20 miles north of Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries suffered when his vehicle was struck by a bomb.   His parents are residents of Rancho Cucamonga.

18 October 2006

Army Spc. Jose R. Perez of Ontario was killed by small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq.

22 October 2006

Army Spc. Matthew W. Creed of Covina was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when his patrol came in contact with enemy forces.   His parents are residents of Rancho Cucamonga.

31 October 2006

Army Pfc. Alex Oceguera of San Bernardino was killed in the Wygal Valley of Afghanistan when a roadside bomb went off near the vehicle he was riding.   He was a graduate of Montclair High School.

8 November 2006

Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Rudy Salcido of Ontario was killed in Al Asad, Iraq.

21 December 2006

Marine Lance Cpl. Fernando S. Tamayo of Fontana was killed in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Tamayo was stationed in Twentynine Palms, where he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment.

30 December 2006

Army Sgt. Lawrence J. Carter of Rancho Cucamonga died when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle in the northwest section of Baghdad, Iraq.

7 February 2007

Marine 1st Lt. Jared M. Landaker of Big Bear City died when the CH-46 helicopter he was piloting was shot down in Iraq's AI Anbar province.   He was a student at University of La Verne before joining the Marine Corps.

27 February 2007

Civilian Contractor Geraldine Marquez of Victorville died at Bagram air base in Afghanistan during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney when a bomb exploded at the front gate.   She lived in Ontario for several years and later moved to victorville.

26 May 2007

Army Sgt. Clayton Dunn of San Bernardino died from injuries from a bomb that exploded while he was on patrol in Iraq’s Salah ad Din province with the 82nd Airborne Division.   He was a graduate of Rialto High School.

28 May  2007

Army Staff Sgt. Thomas Michael McFall, 36, was killed by bomb near Baghdad.   He spent his early years in Pomona and Claremont.

28 June 2007

Army Pvt. Cory Hiltz, 20, of La Verne was killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad along with four other members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team from Ft. Collins, Colorado.

1 July 2007

Army Spc. Victor A. Garcia, 22, of Rialto California died in Baghdad of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire.   He was assigned to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Lewis, Washington.

23 July 2007 — Sgt. Travon T. Johnson, 29, of Ontario died in the Sarobi District of Afghanistan from wounds received from a roadside bomb.   He was a member of the 173th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, stationed in Vicenza, Italy.
